WHOLE SCHOOL REFLECTION

Welcome back to Term 2 to all our LPS Families!  I know the few extra days added to our Term 1 holiday break really did allow for a restful break for my family.  Upon returning to day one of Term 2, it was so wonderful to see and feel the excitement and energy amongst our students and our staff, reconnecting with friends, catching up on holiday news and ready for a term of learning!

Our committed team of teaching staff have communicated curriculum content and teaching program information for this term through the term letters, which were sent home to families last week.  There are a number of upcoming excursions planned by grade teams to provide further learning opportunities outside of the classroom environment.  Please use Seesaw to ensure that you are well informed about upcoming excursions and to also keep in touch with the learning taking place in your child’s classroom.

Last week our school leadership team spent a day listening to international education expert Tom Hierck speak on Bringing Clarity to Effective School Leadership.  It was timely for us as a team, on the back on the data collected from our whole school review at the end of last year, to consider what the goal posts for improvement for our school are in the near future.  One of the whole school professional learning foci for this year is looking at the way we provide effective feedback to students on where they are in their learning and where they need to go next.

Our students have had the opportunity to participate in a number of sporting events recently.  Mr Kamano took a team to the Domain Athletics Centre to participate in the Inter-School Athletics Carnival last week, our K-2 students participated in their Athletics Carnival on Wednesday and our Grade 3-6 Cross Country Carnival is happening next week.  Wednesday 17 May is also the starting date for this year’s Winter Sports Roster.  We strongly encourage our students to make the most of these extra -curricular sporting events.  Participation helps support an active and healthy lifestyle as well as providing an opportunity for individuals to build resilience and confidence in different settings.
