From the Principal

Students from Kinder to Grade 2 participated in Delta Dog training this week. Delta Dog Safe teaches positive, proactive ways to behave around dogs, to reduce the incidence of dog bites in children. Volunteers are recruited and trained to present ‘dog friendly’ school and parent education programs including how to read dogs’ body language, how to react in certain situations and how to safely greet and play with dogs. Dog Safe volunteers use kid-friendly lessons developed by animal behaviorists, role playing, and a large, non-threatening toy dog which means children who are scared of dogs can participate without feeling afraid. The lessons children learn in Delta Dog Safe will last a lifetime and most importantly, it will keep them safe for a lifetime.

Our Grade 3 to 5 Swimming and Water Safety program starts on Monday the 3rd of June. Teaching children to swim also helps them learn about water safety, to assess safe and dangerous situations and how to react in emergencies. Being able to swim improves the chances of survival, saves lives and can reduce drowning cases in this country.

The Inter-School Cross Country Carnival is on Wednesday the 12th June. Selected students have had notes sent home with information about the day.

Lindisfarne Primary has been lucky enough to secure the 24 Carrot Mona Coffee Van for the Tuesday and will be providing hot drinks and food for the event. We will also be there on Wednesday and Thursday. Vicki Doyle will be taking student representatives to support Janelle from the canteen in the Coffee Van on Tuesday. Money raised from this will be put straight back into the canteen and School Garden.
