From the Assistant Principal

As always, it has been a jam-packed couple of weeks here at Lindisfarne Primary School. We explicitly plan for, and offer our students a variety of contexts to apply the content knowledge and skills learnt in our classrooms. This was showcased through the student’s work and contributions to the Lindisfarne Primary School Association Fair, Outdoor Classroom Day, Interschool Swimming Carnival, Junior Choir performance of "The very best pet show", and Grade 6 camp. These are exciting and rewarding events which take a lot of hard work and effort to pull together so thank you to all who supported, organised or participated in these community events. The School would like to take this opportunity to thank the School Association for the organisation of this year's Fair. We appreciate the effort that is put in by the Association volunteers and recognise the positive impact that this has on fostering our sense of community spirit.

Grade 6 camp

Camp is always a great example of learning outside of the classroom. I was lucky enough to spend a night with our Grade 6 team, and got to see the students learning and practising skills that will last them a lifetime. The students catered their own camp and worked ‘shifts’ cooking, serving and cleaning for the group. This collective responsibility was taken very seriously by the students with a focus on learning the importance of hygiene and safety, what respectful service looks and sounds like, nutritional values of food, how food allergies and tolerances need to be catered for and just the sheer level of hard work and thought that goes into planning, preparing and serving food.

Students also had plenty of opportunities to relax with their friends, challenge themselves through activities such as the zip line, abseiling, archery and initiatives course, to name just a few. I would like to recognise the hard work of Mrs Tinker, Mrs Bloomfield and Ms Doyle in getting the camp underway and also thank Mr Des, Mrs Innis and Ms Paradisis for their presence and support at our Grade 6 Spring Beach Camp. I think there would have been be a few staff and students ‘resting their eyes’ on the bus trip back!

There will be many more school community events coming up as the year draws to a close so please keep an eye on Schoolzine (SZapp), our new-look website (https://lindisfarneprimary.education.tas.edu.au/) and Facebook for updates; most key events are also written along the bottom of the Term 4 class letters that you received at the start of the term.
