LET'S GET TO KNOW... MRS VINCE
Mrs Beth Vince is the Assistant Principal at Lindisfarne Primary. Let's get to know her a little better...
Why did you become a teacher?
Because I love learning. I couldn’t think of another job where you get to learn things all day, every day from all different perspectives. It is the most exciting and engaging job I have ever had.
Tell us 3 things people may be surprised to learn about you:
I am happiest when I am dancing, I had a childhood obsession with Alan Border and I love to play badminton.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to go to all the big party cities of the world - New Orleans for Mardis Gras, Rio de Janeiro for Carnival, Mexico City for Dia de los Muertos!
What piece of advice would you give your 10 year old self?
Life is amazing and everything it throws at you is just a reminder of what a gift it is. Squeeze the most out of every day, find awesome people to share it with and take the risks.
When you think back over your career in education, what is your fondest memory?
My fondest memories are of times when learners have a moment of realisation or connection that then excites them to further their thinking or learning in a new direction. The moments when I can see people really change their perspective or thinking because of new understanding and knowledge is the biggest buzz ever!
What is your favourite thing about LPS?
When I walk around our school I see students being kind, considerate, inclusive and thoughtful. It is part of the very fabric of this school – the students here go out of their way to make sure that everyone belongs. I also see dedicated teachers and staff committed to improving their practice and setting high expectations of achievement for themselves and our students. It is an incredible privilege to work here.
Do you have any hidden talents?
No – I broadcast my talents far and wide to anyone who will listen!
What is the bravest thing you have done?
Being a parent takes more courage than anything I have ever known.
