STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
Southern Leadership Conference
On Wednesday 3rd March the co-president and co-vice presidents of the Lindisfarne Primary SRC attended the 15th annual Southern Leaders Conference at Huonville Primary school.
The keynote speaker was Jordan Lovell. He used to do lots of sports but now he works at Bendigo Bank. The conference was about developing our leadership and teamwork skills. Jordan Lovell spoke about some of the leadership skills that he felt were important to him and others.
Positivity was one of the main ones. If you enter a room with your head down, not looking happy then others around you will catch onto your attitude and may not feel so good. If you walk into a room looking and feeling happy it will be contagious and everyone around, you will feel better. Another thing Jordan talked about was selflessness and putting others first. This is another good trait to have for being a good leader.
You don’t have to be president, captain or something else to be a leader. You can just be a leader by putting your arm around someone if they are sad or just feeling down. We took a lot of useful info away from the Southern Student Leaders Conference for 2021.

We listened to speakers and did fun activities. We learnt a lot on how to work in teams and how to be a good leader. All of this was so much fun, and I learnt heaps of things.
The one thing I liked the most was an activity where we got into two groups and had to get to the other side of the court by using paper plates. I really enjoyed this activity as we had to work in teams. I really enjoyed this great opportunity to meet other students around southern Tasmania and learn new skills. This excursion was awesome. Thank you.

After lunch Rob Banfield, who was the host of the event had lined up some leadership quotes all around the room. We read all the quotes and we had to choose the one we thought was best. The people who chose the same quote shared our thoughts on the quote.
At the end of the workshop everyone came together. We were given sheets of paper to fill out our ideas on how we could change the workshop for next year’s group of representatives.
