WHOLE SCHOOL REFLECTION

This month our Lindisfarne Learners have not only done an outstanding job striving to achieve their best in their classrooms but have also participated with aspiration and courage in many events that have been held throughout the term. We are so proud of their efforts and would like to reflect on some of these events to remind us just how busy we have all been!

After a successful Athletics Carnival, many of our Grade 3 to 6 students were selected to represent our school at the SPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival where we came 5th in Division B and recently some students represented our school at the Champions Carnival. Our Kinder to Grade 2 students also had the opportunity to participate in an Athletics Fun Day which was extremely successful with much enjoyment had by all! (See the gallery and details below)

Some of our youngest learners participated in the new Early Years PAT Testing  early in the month and our Grades 3 and 5 students have recently had the opportunity to practise for the NAPLAN test which will occur next term, enabling students to understand the process and build confidence before the actual test week arrives. This term parents and guardians also received progress reports which outlined student’s work habits.

We have celebrated Harmony Day this month, had school photos, some classes have ventured on excursions and our Grade 3/4 classes have participated in an outdoor classroom program throughout the term. We have also hosted and some of our primary students participated in the Japanese Roadshow run by the Japan Foundation Sydney, and this week our Kinder to Grade 3 students were visited by Ditto from Bravehearts who shared a message about personal safety.

As Term 1 closes, I would like to let our school community know about a couple of staffing changes that are occurring. We would like to thank Mr Shaun Worker for his commitment to learning and to our students. Shaun has been working with Teresa Street on 5/6 Blue and we are grateful for the passion, dedication and sense of humour he brought to his class. We look forward to welcoming Jacquie Moore back from maternity leave on this class and wish Shaun all the best in what we are sure will be a long and successful teaching career.

Amanda Brown is taking leave for Term 2, and we welcome Yvonne Kerklann onto our staff in replacement. Yvonne has taught here for the past year in many relief roles and has worked with all our students. She is looking forward to employing her passion and expertise in the music and LIL area to continue Amanda’s work.

We are very lucky to be surrounded each day by such amazing students who have worked extremely hard and deserve to have a rest before we start again in Term 2.  On behalf of all of the staff here at Lindisfarne Primary School, we would like to wish you a happy Easter and safe holidays. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school for Term 2 on Wednesday 21st April.

Kind regards,
