WHOLE SCHOOL REFLECTION
Term 3 has been another busy term for us here at Lindisfarne Primary School with amazing learning taking place in all of our classrooms. Alongside this learning, our students have had multiple opportunities to be involved in extra curricula activities including the Year 6 Band tour, Year 5 Band workshops, Go Green and Gold dress up day and we shared our love of reading by coming to school as our favourite characters for the Book Week parade. It was wonderful to see so many children celebrating reading and really getting into character!
Our school has also been extremely luck this term to have Janice Ross, a resident artist, working with classes and individuals on an art project. We are very thankful to our School Association who secured a grant and have provided some funding for Janice to work with us. We look forward to seeing the wonderful work she has been doing.
We welcomed back Ms. Kel Innis last week from leave, and our leadership team have stepped back into their usual roles. Thank you to Ms Beth Osborne for her incredible leadership as Acting Principal, to Miss Purdie Hudson as Acting Assistant Principal and to the other members of the leadership team who took on extra roles beyond the norm. I felt extremely privileged to also contribute to the Acting Assistant Principal role as it provided me the opportunity to work across a range of areas and grow as a leader.
This term we would like to welcome Ms. Sarah Brand as she joins our team, providing extra support to students across the school in reading and number. We would also like to thank Mrs. Yvonne Kerklaan for her work in the Kitchen Garden space while Mrs. Deb Morgan is on leave. Also, thank you to Miss Phoebe Boddy for taking 1/2 White while Mrs. Kylie Burdon is on leave for the end of this term.
The Student Wellbeing Survey is a survey that provides schools with data about how students are feeling about their school, what they like to do and to link their wellbeing to their learning. All Tasmanian government schools ask students to participate in this survey. All students from Grades 4 to 6 have had the opportunity to share how they are feeling and to have their voices heard. Wellbeing is a key part of the Department of Educations Strategic Plan and is something we value here at Lindisfarne Primary School.
As the end of the term draws near, we would like to thank all of our families for their partnership in their child’s learning and we can’t wait to continue to share learning with you via Facebook and Seesaw.
Mathematics Association of Tasmania – Maths Relay
On Sunday 29th August, four of our Grade 5/6 students represented our school at the Mathematics Association of Tasmania’s 2021 Maths Relay. Congratulations to Thomas, David, Lachlan (from 5/6 Blue) and Samuel (from 5/6 White) for all of their hard work during our practises leading up to the event and for taking their Sunday morning to be courageous and do their best!
