Adele and Sebastian: Inspiring us to take an adventure!
Adele and Sebastian had their boats in the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, held from Friday the 8th of February to the 11th of February, at the Hobart waterfront.
Sebastian’s boat is a Mirror dinghy, called Leatherwood. It can be rowed or sailed. He has done a lot of work on it. When he got it, it leaked badly. He has sanded it back to the wood, epoxied the crack, and repainted it. He has used it in a number of places including the River Derwent, Bruny Island and the d’Entrecasteaux Channel. He has had it for approximately 2years.
Adele’s boat, Carrot, was built by Adele and her dad Tim about 1 1/2 years ago. It is made out of a sheet of plywood and some framing timbers. Adele used the battery drill, jigsaw and exterior glue to build her boat. She paddles it with a kayak paddle on flat water. She has used it in places such as Stewart’s Bay Tasman Peninsular, River Derwent and the d’Entrecasteaux Channel.
