FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

What a great start to the year we continue to have! The learning programs are off and racing and it has been great to see so many students forming new relationships with their peers in the classroom and playground.

On the 2nd of March, Lindisfarne Primary supported World Kindness Day by dressing in rainbow colours and exploring the concept of kindness. Thank you to students and families that supported this wonderful event.

Earlier this term we ran elections for the 2022 SRC and elected representatives from each class in Years 3-6. The SRC has been busy already, supporting Harmony Day preparations and running Harmony Day related competitions across the school. Harmony Day was an opportunity for us to explore Australia’s cultural diversity, inclusiveness, cultural respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Unfortunately, we were not able to have parent spectators at our Year 3-6 Athletics carnival, however, the day was a great success. Our high participation rates and sportsmanship were once again on display, and it was excellent to see so many students giving their best.  Thank you to those that helped with the running of the day, and to Mr Kamano who took the time to analyse the times from each race to ensure that selection of our SPSSA Athletics Team was fair and accurate. The SPSSA Athletics Carnival was run in wet conditions and gave all of our representatives a chance to show their resilience and skills. Congratulations to all students who represented us on this day!

As parents would be aware, there have been changes to the way that all DOE Schools report and communicate with families in 2022 and moving forward. Teachers have now completed conversations with parents around how students are settling in, their application to learning and their wellbeing. We look forward to communicating regularly throughout the year about your child’s progress.

As an ongoing support for the prevention of the spread of Covid-19, we would like to remind parents that it is important that students stay home if they are unwell and test. RAT Tests are still available through the school office but must be collected by a parent.

Kind Regards,

Shae Hickey
