WHOLE SCHOOL REFLECTION

From The Leadership Team

As Term 1 winds towards its conclusion, the Leadership Team would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful students, staff and community for all of the support and flexibility that has been shown so far in 2022. There have been many challenges to all stakeholders and it is heartening to see everyone working together as a team for the benefit of our young people.

Our Prep and Year 1 students have now completed their Early Years Progressive Achievement Testing. This is a key assessment that helps us to identify next step learning for students in the areas of Mathematics and Reading.

Our morning Readers Club, organised by Sophie Sheehan has been well supported this term with many students coming along voluntarily to read to an adult between 8.30 – 9.00am on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This is an important supplement to our Home Reading Program and encourages students to take ownership of their learning.

The Fire Education Program is an important element of the annual learning calendar and, unfortunately, needed to be postponed as it was impacted by COVID. The School is working closely with the Tasmania Fire Service to lock in an alternative date and further information about the program will be sent home when the details are finalised.

We will be holding our annual K-2 Athletics Fun Day on the 13th April from 9-11am. The event will be held on Henley Oval this year and will provide students with an opportunity to participate in athletics and sporting activities with a focus on fun, participation, and healthy movement. Unfortunately, parents are still unable to attend this event under current COVID restrictions. We appreciate our communities support in combating the spread of COVID-19.

Although ANZAC Day falls in the Term 1 Holidays this year. The Leadership Team will be working with representatives of the Student Representative Council, Amanda Brown, and the Lindisfarne Junior Choir to ensure that we pay our respects and lay a wreath at Anzac Park.

Our Swimming and Water Safety program for Years 3-5 is a significant event in Term 2. This will run from the 14th – 24th June. Students will travel to and from the Clarence Pool during this time to learn fundamental water safety skills. Further information will be sent home closer to this event.

Thank you to everyone for their hard work this term and I hope that everyone enjoys a well earned rest over the school holidays, ready to return refreshed on the 2nd

May.

Kind regards,

Shae Hickey
Assistant Principal
