WHOLE SCHOOL REFLECTION

Firstly, welcome back for Term 4 everyone! We all hope you had a wonderful time during the school holidays. We have been very excited to see all of our smiling students back at school!

This term is one of the busiest terms in schools but also full of amazing fun and opportunities for celebration! Here are some of the events occurring this term:

PAT Testing – Weeks 3 & 4

Fire Education – Weeks 5 & 6

Grade 3/4 Camp at Dodges Ferry – 10 November – 11 November

Grade 5/6 Camp at Orford – 9 November – 11 November

Music Assembly - 8 December

Whole School Picnic - 14 December

Christmas on Henley – 16 December

Step-Up Day – 20 December

Leavers Assembly and Dinner – 20 December

Students Last Day – 21 December (This is on a Wednesday this year)

Further information about each of these events will be communicated to families via Seesaw, SchoolZine and Facebook.

One of these experiences coming up very soon are our school camps. This year we are sending both our Grade 3/4’s and 5/6’s on camp. School Camp is an experience that allows students to build trust and respect with their peers and try out new things that maybe they haven’t ever done before! We hope that all students have an amazing time on their camps!

With 2023 fast approaching, I’d like to take this opportunity to share that some of our staff have applied, and been successful in receiving a transfer to another school for next year. Congratulations to Mrs Flude, Miss Jade and Mrs Brown. We wish them all the very best at their new schools in 2023 and thank them sincerely for their valuable contributions to learning at LPS! We will therefore be welcoming some new staff to our school next year. Ellen Green and Kylie Hughes will be joining us in 2023. We welcome them and hope that they have a wonderful start at our school next year.

Last week during the Student Free Day (SFD), our staff spent time together to discuss the commendations and affirmations from our School Review in Term 3 and how this may impact our School Priorities for 2023. We also spent some time pulling apart the Version 9.0 of the Australian Curriculum, particularly in the area of Mathematics, in preparation for implementing this in 2023.

Also during our Student Free Day we celebrated the Department of Education, Children and Young People’s value of Respect and how our students demonstrate this value in our school. To celebrate this with our students we will be handing out some stickers to students in our playground when we see them showing respect. This will then be celebrated in each classroom! Watch out for the sticker below!
