Hello Term 4! It has been so wonderful to greet all of our students back, and see how engaged and ready for learning they are. I have really enjoyed reading and hearing about the adventures that the children undertook over the holidays around our beautiful state. We are so lucky to still be able to get out and about during these uncertain times.
Due to the ongoing restrictions in place because of COVID-19, I can confirm that some of our regular, annual activities have been either modified or cancelled. The main reason for these changes is physical distancing. Here are some of these to note before the end of this year:
Cancelled:
- The Inter-school Swimming Carnivals
- The All Schools Primary Triathlon
- All overnight school camps
Modified:
- The Music Assembly will go ahead on Thursday the 10th of December. Parents will not be invited this year however this will be filmed and put on Seesaw for parents to view.
- The Grade 6 Celebration Assembly will be on Tuesday the 15th of December. Invitations will be sent to parents of our grade 6s soon, only two guests per student will be able to attend, with RSVPs essential. Physical distancing will be in place as will hand hygiene at the one point of entry.
- The Grade 6 cohort are organising an all-day activity to replace the school camp. More information will be distributed about this as it gets closer.
- The DEC Concert in its usual form will not happen this year. The choir are going to be recorded and but won't be performing live. More information will be communicated when it’s released
- Our End of School Picnic will happen on Wednesday the 16th of December from 9am at Simmons Park. There will be no BBQ this year however we will be providing all students with an Icey pole.
Business as usual:
- Swim Fun will go ahead for all Early Childhood students on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of December. More information will be communicated closer to the date.
- The Grade 6 Celebration Dinner will go ahead at Spencers again this year on Tuesday the 15th of December.
- Our annual Christmas on Henley Concert will also happen on Friday the 11th of December on the Henley oval. Physical distancing will be in place, as will a hand hygiene station at the one point of entry.
Thank you so much for your ongoing patience and support as we navigate through these changes.
REMEMBER:
HATS ARE COMPULSORY IN TERM 4
** Book Week Picnic and Parade - Wednesday 21st October 11:45am-12:30pm**
Next Wednesday will be our Book Week Parade. This year's theme is 'Curious Creatures and Wild Minds'. All students are encouraged to participate in the celebrations by dressing up as a favourite book character, bringing an artefact or creating a unique artwork inspired from a book.
Our parade will be held on Loatta oval this year so that parents are able to come and enjoy our parade while still adhering to social distancing requirements. Please bring along a picnic rug and/or picnic chair to sit on and enjoy the parade. The map below shows the layout for the day, with our students centred in the middle of Loatta in class groups and families asked to find a great viewing position around the outside of Loatta.
We are looking forward to seeing the enthusiasm and participation from our whole school community.

Literacy Coach
On the last day of Term 3 Ms Innis shaved all of her head as she had set a challenge to raise over $1000 for the Leukaemia Foundation "World's Greatest Shave" event. The total raised ended up being $3889.68. This money will serve many people!! All of the school are very proud of how much money Ms Innis raised, and we are proud of everyone who donated.
The whole school gathered on the Music Room deck to watch the SRC spray many of our teachers' hair with coloured hairspray. Cleo and Luke then shaved Ms Innis' hair off. The best way to describe the actual shaving is 'hair going everywhere!' as the wind had picked up some of the hair and blown it all over the garden. The event was so big that even The Mercury and 7 News did reports on it!
Ms Innis was very brave to shave her head and have a new look. We think that what motivated Ms Innis was all the children there, cheering her on. All of the students were so excited for this event. We would all like to say thank you to everyone for helping and donating. And thank you to Ms Innis for displaying so much COURAGE!
Jack and Elke,
SRC

LET'S GET TO KNOW... MRS VINCE
Mrs Beth Vince is the Assistant Principal at Lindisfarne Primary. Let's get to know her a little better...
Why did you become a teacher?
Because I love learning. I couldn’t think of another job where you get to learn things all day, every day from all different perspectives. It is the most exciting and engaging job I have ever had.
Tell us 3 things people may be surprised to learn about you:
I am happiest when I am dancing, I had a childhood obsession with Alan Border and I love to play badminton.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to go to all the big party cities of the world - New Orleans for Mardis Gras, Rio de Janeiro for Carnival, Mexico City for Dia de los Muertos!
What piece of advice would you give your 10 year old self?
Life is amazing and everything it throws at you is just a reminder of what a gift it is. Squeeze the most out of every day, find awesome people to share it with and take the risks.
When you think back over your career in education, what is your fondest memory?
My fondest memories are of times when learners have a moment of realisation or connection that then excites them to further their thinking or learning in a new direction. The moments when I can see people really change their perspective or thinking because of new understanding and knowledge is the biggest buzz ever!
What is your favourite thing about LPS?
When I walk around our school I see students being kind, considerate, inclusive and thoughtful. It is part of the very fabric of this school – the students here go out of their way to make sure that everyone belongs. I also see dedicated teachers and staff committed to improving their practice and setting high expectations of achievement for themselves and our students. It is an incredible privilege to work here.
Do you have any hidden talents?
No – I broadcast my talents far and wide to anyone who will listen!
What is the bravest thing you have done?
Being a parent takes more courage than anything I have ever known.

Bambini Bites works in association with CBA Bank/Mastercard and uses their online school canteen ordering system for the convenience of schools, parents and students called QKR! which can be downloaded to all Apple phones/IPAD’s and Android devices.
QKR! allows parents/staff to log into the app and place lunch order two (2) weeks in advance any time until 9.00pm the night prior the lunch is required.
Unfortunately, if you miss this cut off time, we are unable to assist with late orders. We recommend that you place your order as early as possible QKR! sometimes struggles near cut off times due to the high usage of all users Australia wide. This cut off time has been put into place to allow our kitchen staff sufficient time to prepare food for all lunch orders.

We understand that little people can become unwell at the drop of a hat, to assist parents and families with this we request an email to advise.
We need to receive notification no later than 9.00am the morning of the fulfilment of the lunch order, this will enable us to hold the order over for the next school lunch day.
Please note that due to the time of day we are unable to reply instantly and there could be a delay, we will do our absolute best to have contacted you within 24 hours.
Phone calls are not accepted as we need the details to hold onto the order and as you can appreciate are usually super busy preparing food to fulfill hundreds of orders for hungry tummies!

ATTENDANCE, LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY DEPARTURES
If your child is absent from school, please make sure that you notify the office, and be sure to include the reason for absence. There are several quick and easy ways you can do this: via the SZapp, via phone on 6243 9232 or email lindisfarne.primary@education.tas.gov.au
Any students being dropped off late or collected early MUST be signed out in the blue folder in the office. Not only is this important so that your child's attendance is recorded correctly, but it is vital that we know who is onsite in case of an emergency/evacuation. We appreciate your continued cooperation with this.
